Cowtown Marathon 2010

First of all let me correct the title. I ran a half marathon not the actual marathon. I have ran a few marathons in my life and not sure I will ever do that again. The half seems like just the perfect distance.

Once again, in my desperate desire to loss weight, I choose to train for a half marathon. I have ran several 5k's, a 10k at the Turkey Trot and I was part of a marathon relay in December (running only 6 miles). The Cowtown Marathon is a huge event here in Fort Worth so of course I wanted to participate in it. Since I had already ran a few 10k's latley, my best jogging partner and I decided it was time to tackle the 13.1 miles again. We trained together every Saturday morning, freezing or not, and also once during the week. I crossed trained with Stroller Strides and a little running on my own. I guess it was enough, cause I made the 13.1 miles successfully.

We plan on running another one next month and well, maybe Jocie can talk me into another marathon. We'll see!!

My sweet baby!!! Or cry baby.

The other day Luke kept whining, actually that's most days around here. Sometime I take him in my arms, sing 'rock a bye baby' and hold him like a newborn. He usually stops crying and looks at me like I'm crazy! He'll learn one day that his suspicions are true. So, this particular day we decided to swaddle him and hold him like the baby he was acting like. We swaddled them until six months and they loved it so we were wondering how he would respond to it. Well what toddler or any person for that fact likes to be tied tight and not be able to get loose? He didn't seem to enjoy it much either. After a few pictures and many screams, we released him and his little arms flung open with relief. Unfortunately it didn't teach him a lesson, he still seems to whine a lot, but that's my Luke Worm.

Visiting some good friends

We spent the last week in Tennessee visiting some good friends. We were originally going to visit them for Thanksgiving, but with my mom getting back from Iraq during the same time we had to postpone our trip until now. The babies did exceptionally well with the travel. We drove 12 hours each way and I think they watched more TV during the drive than they have watched their entire life.
Luke and Carter had a blast playing with Ella (4 weeks their senior). They all would play then fight just like siblings, ugh-triplets. Thank goodness we only had to bring two back home with us, not sure I could handle three.
Although we really enjoyed our time away from home, we missed the biggest snow storm in history in our area. There was an record breaking 12 inches of snow that fell all in one day. The funny thing is along the drive there I was taking pictures of all the snow along the roadside to post on my facebook to brag to everyone back home. Little did I know that the next day they would be posting pictures of snow like I've never seen before. Needless to say, I never posted my 1 to 2 inch snow pics.
Here are several pictures of all the babies playing and having a fun.

Luke enjoying the 'tic toc' game. They loved this one. Each babies would lay on the floor holding their little legs in the air saying 'me, me'. Jamie really got his bicep workout.

We have this door, but I took it out to the garage cause they never play with it anymore. This is where Luke spent most of his time. I guess I may need to think twice about putting it on Craigslist.

We spent one morning at Chuck E Cheese's. This was a first for us and although we all enjoyed our time there, that place is expensive and they are just toddlers. I can imagine how much it will be once they are bigger. The price we will pay for a few hours of fun.

Jessica and myself. I'm so sad they live so far away. We had a wonderful trip and can't wait to see them again. I know Luke and Carter will miss their girlfriend Ella.

18 Months and Counting

Today the babies turn 18 months and I am very proud that we are all still alive. I haven't killed the babies and they haven't killed us, well at least not yet. It has been the most wonderful 18 months of my life, although a bit of a rollercoster. We have had a ton of laughs, shed a billion tears, I have had feelings in my heart that I didn't know existed and I still have 16 1/2 more years of this to go. I can only imagine the emotions I will get to experience between now and then.
Both babies are growing well and really starting to become little people. They know when they are doing something wrong and actually Luke really like to tell me when Carter is getting into something he's not supposed to be in with a little finger wave towards him and a little 'no no no'. Humm, wonder where he got that one? Carter really likes to have us read to him or he will read to us, which is extremely cute and entertaining. Luke is my little lover. He is sweet to be around, so gentle and has the cutest little laugh. He loves his brother and really loves his mommy, which can get hard at times.
In celebration of the babies half birthday we spent the day together at the zoo. It was a bit chilly so we had the entire zoo to ourselves. The babies had a blast running and exploring the entire place. We saw a few animals, rode the train and were able to feed the birds.

Carter and Daddy finally caught one

It was such a treat to have Daddy with us

Run Luke!!
There are many days Jeff and I look at each other and ask 'what have we gotten ourselves into?' But truthfully, I wouldn't change a thing. I love my babies more than I could have ever imagined and I am proud to be their Mommy.
