Ready2Run

This past weekend I ran in the Pecan Festival 5k with some of my fellow Stroller Strider's. I joined the running group the host called Ready2Run in works of getting my booty back in shape and shed a few pounds. Well I haven't lost any weight yet, but I have remembered why I ran before. I love the feeling after a long run, or even during the run itself. I have had a really hard time getting back into running, but I think I'm back. After I complete the 3-Day, I am going to join the group again for the White Rock Marathon relay, then maybe I will try for the Cowtown half. We'll see!!!
Here is a pic of our group and then of me, Luke and Carter coming through the finish line. I had to run with the babies last minute.

After the run the babies and I hang out at the festival for a while. One of L&C's cousins, Megan, works for All Star Equestrian. They were there giving horse rides so I decided we should give it a try. Both babies enjoyed their ride and loved seeing Megan. Thanks Megan for helping us with our first horse rides.

Muddy Mud!!!

These photos were taken a few days ago and I just had to post them. Yes, I'm a bad mommy-they played in the mud when they were sick. Actually it happened by accident. That's what happens when you try to do something and take your eye off a baby for a slight second.

My poor sick babies

He won't put his taggies down for anything.

Keeping the Motrin close by.

This is our first big illness and boy is it a dozy!! Luke started running fever on Monday and it has been history since. Runny nose, cough, and fever from one baby turns into runny nose, cough and fever from the other.
When I took Luke in to the doc they tested him for the flu which came back positive. I asked 'what about brother'? She told me 'looks like you will have two babies with the flu'. Thanks lady!!! Needless to say it has been a very long week. I think I have spent more hours in my rocker this week than I did when they were newborns. That's okay, I don't mind holding my precious babies anytime. I hope we are able to get some rest soon. I love you Luke and Carter.

Playing at the mall

This was our first time to really play on the little playground in the mall with our friends Wes and Evan. In the past I would look at all the billions of kids running around like crazy, wild animals. My anxiety would set in and I would refuse to get the babies out of their stroller. I felt the same feeling today, but decided I needed to get over it and let them play. They LOVED it!!! Luke would look up at me, smile and giggle, then continue on exploring. Carter tries so hard to be like the big kids, but he can't quite climb like them yet, hence the huge bruise on his forehead. So they ran and played as I just hover around trying to keep an eye on each baby. Good thing is they still seem to roam together for the most part.

Why? Why?

Why do they insist on doing this? It's just gross!!! Good thing I keep our dust pan clean. I just don't get it, why is the food better off the floor than on their trays. They purposely throw the food off the tray, which tells me they are finished eating. I clean them up, get them down and back to eating they go. I have learned now to clean the floor before getting baby down, but I had forgotten this time so I had to take a picture to share and document. Oh goodness, what will they have for me next.

Luke's big boy hair cut

Why is it that just a simple hair cut changes the look of a child? Luke went into the salon looking like a baby and came out looking like a toddler.
He was way past due for a haircut, but I was sad to cut off his little curls in fear that they wouldn't ever return. Everyday it seemed his hair was getting more and more out of control so we decided today was the day to say good-bye to those sweet little curls.
I'm proud of how good he sat in the chair and let the lady cut away. I said salon earlier, we just hit up the closest pro cuts and the lady happened to be the lady who has cut Jeff's and my dad's hair for a long time, it's Alvarado. Anyway, he's been a bit fussy lately so I wasn't sure how he would do. But once again, he surprised me and did fantastic!!

Lunch at Cheesecake Factory

Today we accompanied a few of our SS friends at the Parks Mall. We played, shopped and ate lunch all without a morning nap and with a huge crying fit from Luke earlier that morning. The past few times we have gone to a restaurant they have ended in a nightmare and that is with Jeff. We the girls mentioned going to Cheesecake Factory for lunch I was quick to say 'no thank you, there is no way I can sit in a restaurant by myself with two wild babies'. With very little convincing I decided to give it a chance with the understanding that once they start screaming and acting crazy I was getting a to box and I'll be out the door. Well to my surprise out of five sleepy babies not a single meltdown. All the babies sat at the table, ate their lunch and enjoyed each others company like they were five big kids. Thank you ladies for an awesome afternoon and helping me gain more courage that I can do this twin thing.

Our new sandbox...

ROCKS!!! We have had so much fun playing in our new sandbox. Both babies weren't sure about it at first, they kept trying to hold their feet off the sand, but once they got used to it I can't keep them out of it. Carter likes to lay in it and just roll around, Luke on the other hand likes to eat the sand. Go figure!!
I found this sandbox in the Pottery Barn mag and thought it looked rather easy to build and for a fraction of the price. I handed the idea to my dad and there it is, he had it build in just a few days. Thank you so much Kem and Dad for the wonderful Birthday gift. We will enjoy this for many years.
