4 Birthday Parties, 1 Weekend

OK, I know this is a little crazy, but what can I say. Luke and Carter have more friends as one year olds than I have had in a life time. If you were at their party last weekend you would know what I'm talking about. We are so thankful for all our friends and happy to help celebrate their special day, just as they did ours.

Another thing I want to share is Carter has finally decided he loves to wear a hat. He always brings me random hats to put on this head then he smiles like he already knows how cute he looks. When I was pregnant I bought a billion hats cause I was determined that they were going to wear them, but by my surprise they had a different idea than me. They refused to have them near their heads. I gave up and put a few in their toy box for them to play with. Now they love them. It's so cute.

Fun pics

Here are a few pics of the babies playing around before bed. Please excuse Luke's horrible snotty nose, I'm doing my best to keep it clean.

Our first birthday bash

Our first birthday party was a success!! We had a house full and are very thankful for all our little friends who made it. Luke and Carter have so much fun playing with other kids and I am quite suprised how sweet they are. It has been such a wonderful year watching them grow and such a joy to be their mommy. I am still waiting for it to get easier like everyone has told me, but that hasn't happened yet and I don't see it in my near future. Thank you to everyone who was able to join us for our big celebration.

Controlled Chaos

I have decided this is my new phrase that explains my life the best. Controlled Chaos. To others my life may seem crazy, out of control, a mess, chaos, but to me it's just normal. I have complete control of everything in a not so normal way. What is normal anyway?

This is a photo from our playgroup this week. 8 mommies and 17 babies, one set of triplets.

All good things have to come to an end

We had to say good bye to my mom again today. Luckily this time it is only for a few months. Her deployment is over the beginning of December. We had a very busy, but fun two weeks. I have pretty much been off work and as you can tell off the computer-my blog is lagging. Although I'm sad to see my mom leave, I'm looking forward to getting back to our old routine. The babies are really starting to show their lack of rest and routine and so are my nerves.

We all headed out to the airport this morning to see Oma off. Since she is military we are able to go through security and stay with her until she boards the plane. The USO offers food for the soldiers and their families and some entertainment. But of course not enough for five active boys. Thank goodness for the padded play area close by. See photos.

I hate saying good bye so it was a little hard for me and besides she is my mommy and I loved having her around. We'll miss her and wait impatiently for her arrival in December.

Robes and toothbrushes

I love these little robes. I got them at one of my baby showers and have forgotten about them. They are now almost to small. It was cute watching them walk around like little men. I like the way Carter's is open on the chest like he's showing off his chest hairs.

They both love brushing their teeth. We usually brush them in the bath. In the past I have had several patients tell me that their children wouldn't let them brush their teeth for them. I always thought-your the mom, what do you mean they won't let you brush them. Well now I know, both babies hold their mouths shut when I try to brush them, but if I give them the brush they love chewing on it. Hopefully we are getting them clean enough, I would hate for them to get cavities. Enjoy the cute pics!!

Disney World

Wow-what a vacation. We had a wonderful time at Disney. The week was very busy and the babies did awesome. We spent four days at the parks and one at the beach. We even made it to see the night parade at Magic Kingdom. I love the way you feel like a child at Disney World. One morning we went to Chief Mickeys for breakfast and every time a new character would come out I think I was jumping with excitement just as much as the children were. It's weird how the characters seem so real. We also had an exciting birthday party for the babies where everyone was so caught up in the moment we failed to see Carter fall off the chair right on his head. Which ruined the moment for me-I freaked.
I strongly suggest Disney World to all parents, I would just wait until they are a bit older. We enjoyed spending time with my mom and family.

WE ARE ONE!!!!

Hip hip hooray today is our birthday!! I can't believe we all survived the first year. I wasn't sure about being a mom to one baby and for sure not to two. I can honestly say it hasn't gotten easier. I hear people say that all the time, but it hasn't happened yet. Maybe later it will. Both babies, oops big boys, are doing great. I say big boys, cause one of my friends told me today that I can't call them babies any more, they are now big boys. I'm not to sure about that one, they are my babies and I like the term 'babies', but I guess for their sake I should refer to them as big boys. We had a great day today. BBQ with a few family members and of course our first taste of the sugary icing.
Also we had our one year pictures the other day and I would like to share them with you as always. We had a great time once again. The 'babies' did well until it came to cake time. Neither one of them wanted anything to do with the cake. Not sure if it's was the scenery or the texture. Major meltdown. We still managed to get some pictures and a few laughs. http://www.visualempathy.com/ session code-twincake Enjoy!!!
Happy Birthday to the most wonderful babies I have ever known. I can't believe the joy these two little people have brought to my life. I am so proud to be their Mommy. I love you Luke! I love you Carter!

Walker #2!!

Yay for Luke!!! This video was taken a few days ago and he's walking much better now. He still has a hard time keeping his legs steady, but it is all coming together. Carter is a walking champ now. He walks everywhere he goes. Oh boy, do we have our hands full!!

Welcoming home a hero...

At least for two weeks. Yay!! I'm so happy to have my mom home for a while. We arrived at the airport at 7:45 am Saturday morning and waited along with a billion others for the plane to land and unload. I think time stopped cause it seemed like a life time waiting for the soldiers to start coming out. Then I think she was one of the last ones to get off the plane. She says she wasn't but it sure seemed like it. We are very thankful she is here with us and are excited to spend time with her.
